WRITING TUTORING : When using the "Appointment Focus" drop-down menu, note that any Writing Tutor can help you with English-language writing projects. For help with writing in another language, or to select a specialization (such as APA or personal statements), please select the appropriate filter. LANGUAGE SUPPORT (AND CONVERSATION PRACTICE) : Conversation Partners provide Language Support and Conversation Practice. When using the "Appointment Focus" drop-down menu, note that any Conversation Partner can help you with English-language conversation practice. For help in other languages, please select the appropriate "Language Support" filter. READING SUPPORT : When using the "Appointment Focus" drop-down menu, note that any Reading Support tutor can help you with English-language reading assignments. For help in other languages, please select the appropriate filter. APPT TYPES: We offer two appointment types: 2-block appointments (45-50 mins) and 1-block appointments (20-25 mins). In general, we recommend 2-block appointments when possible, but you can choose. To schedule a 2-block appointment , select a time frame with 2 white blocks side by side. To schedule a 1-block appointment, look for a single white block. All appointments must be booked at least 45 minutes in advance. In-person appointments: check in at the SSC front desk on the 3rd floor of the Charles Library. Zoom appointments meet online in real time. To get your Zoom meeting link, navigate to your appointment a few minutes before your appointment time, and scroll down to the text box that reads, "ZOOM ONLINE SESSIONS: For sessions...." E-tutoring appointments (writing tutoring only) are asynchronous and only available as 2-block appointments. Upload one or more Microsoft Word documents to your appointment and you will receive feedback by the end of the scheduled time. LIMITS ON DAILY AND WEEKLY SESSIONS : You may book up to 6 sessions per week, but no more than 2 sessions per day. If booking more than 1 session per day, please ensure that each session is with a different tutor. Also, if booking more than 1 session per day, ensure that each session is either for a different service (so, 1 is for conversation partners and 1 is for reading support) or different assignments (such as 2 different writing assignments). Both one-block and two-block appointments count toward the daily and weekly session limits. Questions?
